in a town setting”

Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School

Welcome

From the Head Teacher - Duncan de Gruchy

Welcome to Holy Trinity C of E Primary School

We recognise that children get one chance with their education and we want the very best for every child at our school. It is a privilege to lead the dedicated team who work so tirelessly to achieve this.We are extremely proud of the high standard of education, behaviour and care which we provide and warmly invite new and prospective parents to look around our school to sample what is on offer to ensure each pupil achieves well academically and personally, enjoys learning and has a sense of belonging to our school community. We value highly the positive relationships we have built between children, parents, staff, governors and our neighbouring communities. Holy Trinity first opened in 1871 and it still continues to be held in very high regard with an enviable local reputation for academic excellence and quality of care. As a Church of England Primary School we have built our foundations on core Christian principles and have strong links and regular involvement with Trinity Church. We believe in creating an environment where everyone is valued, respected and can experience success. Relationships within the school community are characterised by Christian care, respect and concern. We have a lot to be proud about at Holy Trinity. We have well-resourced, spacious rooms and attractive surroundings. We are a single-form entry school with first-rate facilities. Children achieve their personal best within bright, engaging learning environments which motivate, inspire and celebrate their success. The school grounds have been developed to support learning, providing an attractive and safe environment for all children to enjoy. The children benefit enormously from the good use of our impressive outdoor space which includes a field, Forest School area, Quiet Area, Conservation Area and Trim Trail. We are known locally as ‘a village school in a town setting’ because of our warm welcoming ethos and strong sense of community which is tangible and always commented on by visitors. The school is a happy, stimulating and caring place and we expect high standards of behaviour and good manners throughout the school. Learning is celebrated and openly admired. Keeping children safe is our top priority and parents are reassured by our thorough safeguarding practices. We work in close partnership with parents valuing their contribution as a vital factor in ensuring every child realises their full potential. We go that extra mile, investing time in getting to know everyone at our school. Attendance is extremely high. We welcome many volunteers into school. Although it is entirely separate from our school, a before and after school club occupies a building on-site and many parents make use of the wrap around child-care on offer at the beginning and end of the school day. Hot school meals are cooked, served and enjoyed by many children daily. Over a quarter of pupils are presently learning to play a musical instrument and we have a thriving orchestra. We hold a prestigious ArtsMark award for the emphasis placed on The Arts within the Curriculum. Wide-ranging extra curricular activities further enhance the opportunities on offer and our broad and balanced creative curriculum is supplemented by educational visits and specialist coaches. It is our hope that every pupil will have special and happy memories of their time at Holy Trinity.

We would be pleased to show you around so that you can experience the friendly atmosphere, meet the staff and see the children as they work and play together. Please phone or e-mail for an appointment to visit.
