Topic Homework - A reminder that Topic Homework is handed in every WEDNESDAY - one task at a time please! You can choose which task you would like to do every week. Please make sure written tasks are done in pencil and your name is on each task you hand in. Homework that is of a high standard will be put into our topic books or put on our topic display board!
Maths Homework - This will be handed out every Thursday afternoon unless notified. Homework must be done in pencil and handed in by the following WEDNESDAY. Maths homework will be based on learning that has gone on in the classroom in the week. Our very popular '99 club' (times table challenge) is done every Wednesday so practising these times table facts every week is encouraged.
Spellings - Y3 spellings will be handed out on a Thursday afternoon and a spelling test will be done on the following WEDNESDAY. Y3 Dictation words will start after October half term and will also be checked on a Wednesday.
Reading - Try and do some reading as much as you can most nights - around 15/20 minutes. Please use your reading journal to record what text you are reading and the date you started it. After you have finished, write a mini review about what you have read and perhaps a small picture of a favourite part or a favourite character! Remember, you can read your book to adults at home - it is still good for them hear you read and to discuss the book together! Final reminder, your reading book and journal must come to school each day for independent reading times.
PE - PE for the Autumn term will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Thursdays will be gymnastics and dance, Wednesdays will be swimming until February half term. If your child cannot do swimming for any reason, please send in a note with your child. A reminder for children with pierced ears - earrings must be removed before swimming as requested by the swimming coaches. It would be helpful if your child didn't wear earrings on this day and children with long hair must have it tied back. A helpful tip for girls - if they can wear trousers or long socks with their skirt/dress for swimming days, this will make it easier for them to get changed afterwards, many thanks!

GENERAL REMINDERS - Our corridors in school are narrow and there is limited space where our pegs are. It would helpful to have small rucksacks for pegs and to use a drawstring bag (like our school PE bag) to bring swimming kits in. Children can still use a school book bag which can fit in their drawer in the classroom if they wish. Please provide a water bottle for your child which can be kept in the classroom. Lost jumpers, cardigans, coats etc are much better found again if they have a name in it, please do check that all uniform is clearly labelled including PE kits.
