English - Writing

At Holy Trinity we are aspirational for all children and aim for each child to live life to the full.

At Holy Trinity, our aim in the teaching of writing is to cultivate articulate and confident communicators who can express themselves effectively through the written word. We aim to equip our pupils with the skills necessary for a lifetime of learning and creative expression, encouraging them to:

  • Develop a love for writing: We strive to inspire curiosity and creativity, ensuring that all pupils see writing as a valuable and enjoyable mode of communication.
  • Achieve mastery in writing skills: Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all students attain a high level of mastery in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and composition, reaching their individual potential.
  • Cultivate critical thinking and creativity: We encourage pupils to think critically about their writing and its purpose, fostering originality and personal voice.
  • Understand the audience and purpose: Pupils learn to tailor their writing according to different audiences and purposes, integrating real-world contexts to enhance engagement and relevance.

NB: Our writing curriculum is currently being reviewed in readiness for September 2025.
