History

At Holy Trinity CE Primary School, we believe that a balanced and robust History curriculum will allow children to gain a clear and chronological knowledge and understanding of the past, both in Britain and the wider world. Children will also gain an understanding of how Britain has influenced and been influenced by the wider world.

Our carefully curated History curriculum is knowledge and vocabulary rich, in a sequenced chronological order, allowing children to develop their understanding of abstract concepts as they move through our school.

We feel passionately that our History curriculum should fire children’s curiosity about the past, both in Britain and the wider world and help them to understand the diversity of human experience. This is is important as it provides children with the opportunities to empathise with others, argue a point of view and reach their own conclusions. Alongside this, we value the important role that History can play in equipping children with essential skills that will take them far beyond Holy Trinity; raising their aspirations, understanding how and why to be a responsible citizen, and understanding change and the development of society. At Holy Trinity we feel this is extremely important for our children in that it allows them access to a much wider world.
