Our Approach to Homework
At Holy Trinity CofE Primary School, we believe that homework should support and reinforce the learning that takes place in the classroom, while also helping children to develop independence, responsibility, and a love of learning.
Reading
We ask all children to read at home at least three times a week. Reading regularly helps to build fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. We encourage parents and carers to read with their children, ask questions about the text, and celebrate progress.
Spellings
Weekly spelling lists are sent home to help children practise key words and patterns. These are linked to the curriculum and are tested in school to support spelling development and writing confidence.
Times Tables Practice (Years 2–6)
Children in Years 2 to 6 are expected to practise their times tables regularly using Times Table Rockstars. This fun and engaging platform helps pupils build speed and accuracy, which are essential for success in maths.
Century Tech Tasks
Pupils may also be set personalised tasks on Century Tech, an adaptive learning platform that supports English, maths, and science. These tasks are tailored to each child’s learning journey and help consolidate classroom learning.
